LYNNWOOD - The EdCC women's soccer team defeated Whatcom 1-0 Saturday at Triton Field thanks to an outstanding goal from Kylee Billings and a tough defense. The North tilt was the final home contest of the year for EdCC as well as Sophomore Day.

Edmonds' win, combined with Shoreline's triumph later in the day, locked the Tritons into third place in the NWAC North standings, despite one more game to play in the regular season. EdCC will be a #3 seed in the NWAC playoffs and will travel to East #2 seed Treasure Valley for a 1 p.m. first round game on November 5.

The Tritons had a few scoring opportunities but it wasn't until the 43rd minute that until one was finished. That was when Billings blasted a shot from about 30 yards out that sailed just over the Orca keeper and just below the crossbar.

That goal would be the only one on the day, thanks to both defenses. EdCC sophomore keeper Alecia Longsine earned the shutout and saved five shots. WCC keeper Megan O'Keefe had three saves.

Whatcom finishes the year with a 7-10-1 overall mark, 7-8-1 against league opponents.

At halftime Edmonds recognized four sophomores who were participating in their final game on Triton Field: Lexie Gray, Alecia Longsine, Lauren Rodger and Michaela Moren. Thanks to all the ladies for their hard work and contributions to the EdCC women's soccer program.

The Tritons (11-6-2, 9-5-2 League) will finish the regular season this Saturday when they travel to Mount Vernon to play Skagit Valley (4-12-2, 3-11-2) at 5 pm.
