EdCC Soccer Ties at Whatcom

Miguel Medina scored for EdCC Wednesday

WHATCOM – NWAC No. 5-ranked Whatcom CC and No. 8 Edmonds battled to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday, meaning that the two squads will remain where they were in the atop North standings. WCC (7-2-2, 5-2-2 league) stays in first place one point in front of EdCC(5-5-2, 5-2-1).

Trailing the Tritons by four points is Skagit Valley (6-4-0, 4-4). The Cardinals pay Edmonds a visit for a 2:15 pm game this Saturday. The match on Triton Field will be the first for EdCC since September 20, but it will be the first of five straight home tilts for Edmonds.

Though the Tritons tied the Orcas on the road Wednesday, the result was a frustrating one for the team due to the fact that EdCC had a 2-1 lead late and WCC was playing a man down due to a red card when the Orcas scored the tying goal.

WCC would be issued its second red card at the 88th minute and would field just nine players but EdCC wasn’t able to take advantage.

The Orcas scored the game’s first goal at minute 16. The Tritons responded with goals by Miguel Medina and JJ Schmeck in the 27th and 32nd minute.

That’s how the score would remain until Arturo Torres scored in the 69th minute to even the game at 2-2.
