LYNNWOOD – Edmonds Community College volleyball recorded a
sweep of Skagit Valley College in a NWAC North tilt Wednesday night in Seaview
Gym. The relatively easy 25-15, 25-21, 25-22 triumph was the first of the year
for the Tritons (1-14, 1-2 league).
EdCC outside hitter Carly Sims led all players with 10
kills. Teammate Gabi Mahler was next with eight winners and seven digs, Riley
Stewart added six kills.
Defensively EdCC was paced by 12 digs from Carly Reese. The
sophomore libero also had five aces, many of which came at a crucial point in
the second set. Mariah Martin tallied 19 assists.
The Tritons registered nine team blocks led by three solo
blocks from Sims and three total blocks from both Stewart and Tran. Edmonds outhit
the Cardinals in hitting (.128-.019), though Skagit had more kills and digs.
SVC (4-16, 1-1 league) was led by both Hanna Pitsch and
Marley Reynolds’ six kills.
The Tritons take a few days off before hosting Everett on Wednesday,
October 8. Game time is 7 pm.
