box score

TACOMA -- The EdCC women's basketball team claimed its first win of the year Tuesday night by beating Tacoma CC 51-49 in a non-league game. The win moves the Triton's record to 1-3 on the season.

Mariah Martin led Edmonds with 18 points after going 8-for-13 from the field and hitting both of her three-point attempts. Asiyah Davis chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists with Mia Hayek adding 12 points. Brianna Joki grabbed 12 rebounds for the Tritons.

Three Titons (0-3) scored in double-figures, paced by 15 points from Carsen Stanley. Samira Miller pulled down 18 boards.

Neither team shot well, with TCC actually outshooting EdCC 37 to 33 percent and it was the Titans with 10 more rebounds (52-42). The Tritons took 10 more shots than did Tacoma, however, and the Titans were dreadful at the free throw line, making just 5 of 21 attempts.

Edmonds scored 15 points on treys, compared to just six from TCC.

The Tritons led 24-23 at the half and also had one more point than did Tacoma in the second.

EdCC will next play at the Everett Tournament this weekend. The team's first tilt is against Spokane on Friday starting at 2 pm.
