Zach Pederson scored 26 points Monday |
OREGON CITY – Edmonds CC advanced to the championship game
of the Clackamas Holiday Classic by beating Tacoma CC 74-67 Monday evening. The
Tritons will face Walla Walla in Tuesday’s 3 pm title tilt.
Edmonds was off of their shooting game when compared to
Sunday’s 114-point effort against Yakima Valley, but the Tritons did manage to
shoot 40 percent against Tacoma from the field, though the team was a poor
4-for-14 from behind the arc.
What made the difference was EdCC pulling down 47 rebounds,
13 more than did the Titans. Edmonds took 12 more shots than did TCC during the
60 minutes of non-league action.
Leading the way with 26 points and 18 rebounds was Triton
forward Zach Pederson. The sophomore went 12-22 from the field and made both of
his free throw attempts. Charlie Smith added 15 points and Sam Omondi chipped
in with 13 points.
Andre Lewis scored 23 points for Tacoma in the losing
effort.
Edmonds improved to 9-3 on the year and dropped the Titans
to 3-7. Walla Walla heads into Tuesday
with a 7-5 mark.
