Pederson Scores 30 to Lead Men's Hoops

TACOMA -- The EdCC men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid by defeating Pierce College 88-83 Saturday night. The win evens the Tritons mark to 2-2 on the season. 

Edmonds shot a robust 51 percent against the Red Raiders, a vast improvement from the prior two contests. Leading the Tritons in scoring was Zach Pederson who had 30 points on a 14-23 shooting effort. Pederson also pulled in 11 rebounds in the win.

Three other Tritons scored at least 10 points: Charlie Smith (15), Jas Coulson (10) and Devin Stoen (10). Blake Fernandez contributed six assists and five points, Smith and Stoen added five and four assists, respectively. 

Edmonds outshot the Raiders (51 to 47 percent) but were outrebounded 42-39. Both teams struggled at the free throw line, EdCC making just 9-of-18 at the stripe.

Keasen Kelly led PC with 18 points with Hussayn Ford scoring 14 and grabbing 13 rebounds. The Red Raiders fell to 2-4.

The Tritons led by three at the half (39-36) and outscored Pierce in the second 49-47 in the second for the five-point margin of victory. EdCC scored 15 second chance points and made seven threes, both of which were difference makers in the non-league tilt. 

EdCC will be at home for three straight contests starting with Yakima Valley on Wednesday, December 10. Tip-off is at 7 pm.
