EdCC Claims Clackamas Tournament Title

OREGON CITY - The Tritons claimed the 2014 Clackamas Holiday Tournament championship on Tuesday by defeating Walla Walla 90-79. Edmonds improved to 10-13 with the triumph and dropped the Warriors to 7-6.

The Tritons shot 44 percent (36-81), controlled the boards (49-39) and had 26 second chance points. Edmonds forced 15 WWCC turnovers which led to 20 points. The Triton bench continues to shine, adding 24 points to the win Tuesday.

Charlie Smith led EdCC with 27 points and six assists. Tournament MVP Zach Pederson added 15 points and 10 rebounds to the win with Blake Fernandez contributing 10 points. Sam Omondi pulled in seven rebounds with Devin Stoen scoring six and grabbing six boards.

Matt Grooms and Satchel Schetzie had 26 and 24 points for the Warriors, respectively. 

Aside from Pederson, Smith and Destine Kawaka were named all-tournament.

The Tritons return home for a pair of non-league contests before playing their first NWAC North contest. On Friday, January 2, EdCC hosts an Alumni game at 7 pm.
