box score

LYNNWOOD -- The EdCC women's basketball team lost a five-point half time lead and the game to visiting Tacoma CC Tuesday night in Seaview Gym. The Tritons fell to 1-8 with the loss while TCC improved to 2-6.

Edmonds came out of the gate strong and took a 8-1 lead. The Titans rallied and eventually took a one-point lead with 4:31 left in the first half. EdCC's Taylor Carpenter made a pair of treys late, however, and the Tritons went into intermission with a 27-22 advantage.

Tacoma, behind the sharp shooting of Carsen Stanley and the rebounding/ scoring of Jemila Leppard, went ahead at the 10 minute mark of the second stanza and never looked back. The Titans were up by as much as much as 12 before settling for the nine-point win.

Leading Edmonds with 14 points was Asiyah Davis. Shaleea Butler added 13 points with Carpenter contributing nine points. The Tritons shot 39 percent from the floor but struggled at the arch (3-13) and the line (4-12). EdCC also turned the ball over 21 times.

Stanley had 17 points for TCC with Leppard adding 16 points and 14 boards.

The Tritons play twice this coming weekend. On Saturday they host Wenatchee Valley and on Sunday the team welcomes Northwest Indian. Both contests start at 3 pm.
