LYNNWOOD -- The EdCC men's soccer team punched its ticket to the NWAC Final Four by defeating Tacoma CC 2-0 Saturday afternoon in a quarterfinal match at Triton Field. The Tritons, the No. 1 seed in the North, improved to 8-7-4 on the season while TCC, the # 3 seed in the West, ends the year with a 10-9-2 mark.

Edmonds will face North Idaho in Saturday's 3:30 p.m. semifinal held at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. The 6 p.m. semifinal pits Highline against Skagit Valley. The winner of those two contests will face each other 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday's home tilt against Tacoma CC was scoreless -- thanks to a couple of outstanding saves from EdCC keeper Aurturo Oberto -- until Cristhian Robles found the Titan net in the 33rd minute off of a pass from Kevin Carroll. The freshman's shot was a beauty taken from about 15 yards out and over the TCC keeper.

Then in first-half stoppage time, Triton forward Miguel Medina blasted a foul kick from the right side of the field past Titan keeper Ian Fry to put EdCC up 2-0.

That would be the final goal of the game and more than enough for the Triton defense. Oberto recorded the shutout by making 9 saves.

The other quarterfinal scores had Highline defeating Whatcom 4-2; Skagit Valley topping Clark 2-1 and North Idaho defeating Peninsula 2-0. North Idaho, EdCC's opponent on Saturday, beat the Tritons 3-0 earlier in the season.
