Men's Soccer Falls in OT in NWAC Semis

box score

TUKWILA -- The Edmonds CC men's soccer team lost to North Idaho 1-0 in a NWAC semifinal playoff game Saturday afternoon in front of a great crowd at Starfire Sports Complex. Scoring the game-winning goal in the 99th minute for NIC was Brady Ulen.

Edmonds, champs of the NWAC North, ends the 2014 campaign with a 8-8-4 overall record and went 1-1 in the postseason, good for third place in the NWAC tourament. East champs North Idaho improved to 17-1-2 and advanced to the NWAC finals set for Sunday evening.

Saturday's contest was mostly a defensive one, though the Cardinals were the ones who pressed the most and had the most chances. EdCC keeper Arturo Oberto kept NIC off the board for 98 minutes, however, by making a few terrific saves.

After 90 scoreless minutes of play the contest went into sudden-death overtime. It would be much of the same with NIC playing on the Triton's end of the field. With a minute in the first overtime, Ulen got a good look and snuck a shot past Oberto.

Goal keeper Mitchell Markovetz recorded the shutout for North Idaho.
