LYNNWOOD – The Edmonds volleyball team fell in five sets to
visiting Bellevue Friday night in Seaview Gym (26-24, 25-12, 20-25, 21-25,
15-8). The Tritons will finish out the regular season on Tuesday when they host
Olympic College at 7 p.m. EdCC sophomores will be recognized prior to the
contest.
Friday’s loss was a tough one for the Tritons because they
had a great chance to win the opening set and possibly the match. The first
eventually went to the Bulldogs in extra points 26-24.
Bellevue cruised through the second set and it seemed at
that point that BC would finish off EdCC in three. But the Tritons rallied and
claimed the next two sets to push the match to a deciding fifth set. The
Bulldogs would take the fifth, though 15-8, and the match.
EdCC outside hitter Carly Sims led all players with 18 kills and also had 7
digs. She was the only Triton to record double-figure winners, though three
others: Gabi Mahler, Riley Stewart and Amelia McArthur had five kills. Mahler
also had 10 digs and three aces.
Delaney Watson registered 14 assists, four aces and five
digs with Mariah Martin dishing out 20 assists.
The Tritons had 8.5 team blocks, led by 6 total blocks from
Megan Tran. EdCC hit .135 as a team to BC’s 142. The Bulldogs accumulated more
kills (52-41), assists (50-41) and digs (60-54) than did Edmonds.
