Tritons Blank Pierce

Brian Way earned the win Saturday

LYNNWOOD -- Brian Way went six scoreless innings with Jared Gray and Nick Johnston coming out of the pen to to combine on a 5-hit shutout as Edmonds  defeated visiting Pierce College 4-0 Saturday at Triton Field. EdCC improved to 6-2 overall while the Red Raiders slipped to 2-4 on the season. 


The non-league contest was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning. Spencer Greene started things off with a single and moved to third on a Shane Hanon double. After a walk to Zach Needham to load the sacks it was Jesse Moore coming through with a 2-run double. 

The Tritons added two more runs in the sixth thanks to an RBI single from Garrett Gallinger and Griffin Meyers sac-fly. 

EdCC hurlers and defense did the rest. Moore collected two of seven EdCC hits on the day. 

Way (2-0) fanned three batters in his six-inning stint, Gray struck out two and Johnston one. 

The Tritons host Yakima Valley, Tacoma, Mt. Hood and Pierce this coming weekend. EdCC's first game is Saturday vs. YVCC at 11:00 am.
