Have Mercy! Softball Sweeps Blue Mountain

PENDELTON, OR -- The EdCC softball team swept Blue Mountain in a non-league twinbill on Saturday by scores of 12-1 and 15-6 Both contests were halted due to the 8-run mercy-rule. Edmonds improved to 9-3 on the year.

Blue Mountain scored the first run of the day in the bottom of the first of the opening game, helped out by an EdCC error, but it was all Tritons from that point on. Edmonds scored four in the second, two in the third, one in both the fourth and fifth and then four in the top of the sixth. 

EdCC collected 13 hits in the game, led by a two hits by Chantel Brown, Reagan Ingersoll, Tia Hedmand and Bailee Senner. Senner blasted her second round-tripper of the season, a grand-slam, and drove in five. Hedman scored four runs and Hanna Wilcox had three RBI.

Picking up the win was Hailey Malakowski who went six frames, allowing one run on six hits. 

Edmonds scored in every inning of game two as well, thanks to 16 hits, three of those were homers by Kristina West, Kamryn Kanae and Hedman. The Tritons have now hit 18 homer runs on the year. West and Chantel Brown each had three RBI, Antionette Watson had two RBI. 

Brown and Hedman had three hits apiece, with Watson, Kanae, West and Senner with two each.

Madison Budnick started and went 2.2 innings before giving way to Malakowski (7-3). The freshman earned the win with 2.1 frames of relief. 

Edmonds opens North Region play on Saturday, April 2, at Bellevue. First pitch is slated for 2 pm. The Bulldogs are playing at Robinswood Park (off of 148th, about 2 blocks from campus) this year while their campus field undergoes renovations.
