Edmonds Tops Walla Walla in NWAC Loser-Out Tilt

Riley Storedahl picked up the win Friday

LONGVIEW – The Tritons regrouped after a disappointing loss in the opening game of the NWAC tournament to beat Walla Walla 6-2 in a loser-out game Friday at Story Field. No. 2-ranked Edmonds survives another day and will face the loser of tonight's Lower Columbia/ Treasure Valley contest at 2:05 pm on Saturday.

The Warriors scored Friday’s first run when Cody Price singled home Clayton Ayers in the top of the second. EdCC responded with three in the home half of the frame, however, aided by a couple of WWCC errors. Steven Weber and Vinny Catanzaro both came through with RBI singles in the inning.

Jesse Moore hit a sac fly in the third and Ben Roquet singled home Jamie Umbinetti in the sixth to give Edmonds a 5-1 advantage. The Warriors plated a run in the seventh but EdCC answered with a run of its own in the eighth for the 6-2 final score.

Riley Storedahl improved to 7-2 by pitching 6.2 strong innings. The freshman allowed two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Brian Way and Brady Batt were used in relief roles and both kept the Warriors off the board.

Umbinetti was the lone Triton with two hits. Ayers went 3-for-4 in the losing effort for Walla Walla.

With the win Edmonds improved to 33-11 on the year and stays alive in a quest for a ninth NWAC title. The Warriors end the year with a 31-17 mark.
