Kylee Billings scores on Saturday |
EVERETT – The EdCC women’s soccer team suffered a tough 2-1
defeat to NWAC No. 2-ranked Everett CC at Kasch Field Saturday. The loss
dropped the No. 7-ranked Tritons to 6-3-1 overall, 4-3-1 league and into a tie
for third place in the North standings.
Saturday’s tilt was the first for both squads against a
North team in 2014. A very even contest for most of the contest, it took until
minute 62 to see a score when Lauren Allison found the net for Everett. Matti
Norton gave the Trojans a 2-0 advantage with a goal 18 minutes later.
A Riquelle Weaver to Kylee Billings goal in the 82nd
minute cut the deficit to just one goal. With time running down Billings put
herself in great position to even the score but Everett keeper punched the ball
out before Billings was able to head it in.
Alecia Longsine started in goal and made a few terrific
saves before taking the field as a forward in the second. Peyton Pruett played
the final 45 minutes as keeper.
Everett improved to 9-2, 7-1 with the win.
The Tritons have a huge week coming up, traveling to
Shoreline for a 12:30 pm match on Wednesday and then head to Green River on
Saturday for a 7 pm tilt.
