LYNNWOOD -- The EdCC women's soccer team split its two NWAC league games at Triton Field this past weekend, losing to Highline 3-0 on Friday and beating Lower Columbia 4-0 on Saturday. The Tritons now stand at 3-1-0 overall on the year and are 1-1 in league play.

Friday's contest against Highline was a frustrating one for Edmonds. The athletic and deep Thunderbirds (5-0, 3-0 league) controlled the pace of play all game, scoring in the 25th, 37th and 60th minutes.

EdCC utilized both keepers, Alecia Longsine playing the first half and Peyton Pruett the second. Longsine would save four shots with Pruett turning back eight. The Tritons attempted just two shots on goal, both of which were saved by HCC's Tessa Bruland.

The situation was reversed on Saturday. Edmonds scored three goals against Lower Columbia in the opening eight of play minutes to take a 3-0 advantage. The Tritons blasted away all game but wouldn't score again until the 76th minute.

Lauren Rodger was the offensive star of the game, recording a hat-trick against the Red Devils (4th, 8th and 76th minute). Two of Rodger's goals came on penalty kicks and one on a breakaway. EdCC's other goal was by Keana King (minute 8).

The score would have been even more lopsided if not for 12 saves by LCC's Alexandria Aspinwall. The Triton defense kept the Red Devils at bay with LCC (1-3-1, 0-3) taking just one shot on goal. Pruett recorded her second shut out of the season.

EdCC takes a few days off before hosting Olympic College on Thursday as part of a league doubleheader. The women start at 5 pm, followed by the men at 7:15 pm. OC comes into the match with a 2-2-1 overall mark and are 0-2-1 in region play.
