Tritons Collect 6 Points

Bellevue Box | Tacoma Box

LYNNWOOD - The EdCC men's soccer team posted two league wins over the weekend, beating Bellevue 3-1 on Friday and Tacoma 1-0 on Saturday. More importantly, the Tritons collected six points and are now second in the NWAC North region standings with a 3-1 record. Edmonds is 3-4-1 overall.

Bellevue jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute Friday but two Miguel Medina goals, in the 52nd and 63rd minutes, propelled the Tritons in front.

Down 2-1 the Bulldogs (5-4, 3-4) pulled their keeper in an attempt to gain more offense. That move backfired when EdCC keeper Arturo Oberto lined a long kick past midfield after a save.

The ball was controlled by JJ Schmeck on a breakaway, past the BC keeper. Schemeck then found Max Zambrowsky who sent in a 30 yard shot into a vacated goal.

Oberto pulled in two saves in the win.

Tacoma (5-5, 2-4) paid Triton Field a visit the very next day. A very hard-fought and chippy game ensued. Scoreless through 72 minutes, Schemeck was fouled in the Titan box. He lined up for a PK and zipped in the shot, the only time anyone found the back of the net Saturday.

Oberto and the defense earned the shut out, Oberto saving five TCC shots on goal.

Edmonds will be on the road for the next few contests, starting with a 4 pm game at Peninsula on Wednesday. The two-time defending champion Pirates are 7-0 overall, 5-0 in league play.
