Edmonds Comes Up Short at Peninsula

box score

PORT ANGELES -- The NWAC No. 7 EdCC Triton women's soccer team battled and had it's chances, but would lose 2-0 Tuesday afternoon to No. 2-ranked Peninsula College. The game against their West rivals was the last non-North contest of the year for Edmonds and was a rematch of last year's NWAC title game

With the loss EdCC falls to 6-2-1 overall, 4-2-1 in league play while the Pirates improved to 8-1, 6-1 league.

Both Peninsula goals came on corner kicks, the first in minute 17 when Paxton Rodocker headed a corner into the goal. Edmonds keeper Alecia Longsine deflected the shot and when the ball came down Mary Pierce took advantage and scored.

That's how the score remained until the 60th minute when Larkyn Nelson knocked home a corner from Alyssa Bertuleit.

The Tritons had their chances but could not finish against the stiff Pirate defense.

EdCC keeper Alecia Longsine saved four shots, including one on a spectacular that even the PC faithful appreciated. Peyton Pruett played the second half and recorded one save.

Emily Flinn saved both EdCC shots on target.

The going doesn't get easier as the Tritons head over to Everett on Saturday to take on the top-ranked Trojans. Start time against their North foes at Katch Park is at noon.
