EdCC Men's Soccer Tops Everett

box score

EVERETT - The Edmonds CC men's soccer team defeated Everett CC 1-0 Saturday at Kasch Park thanks to a late goal and a tenacious Triton defense. It was the first NWAC North contest for both squads and pushed Edmonds to 4-5-0 overall, 4-2 league. Everett falls to 2-4-2, 1-4-1 league.

The league match had just one goal, but there was plenty of excitement and both teams had scoring chances. But shots on target were either saved or went just high or wide until the 80th minute. That's when the Tritons forced a turnover and charged down the pitch towards the Trojan goal.

JJ Schemek took possession and crossed a perfect shot to a running Miguel Medina who headed the ball into the net past EVCC keeper Sergio Barrera.

The Trojans pressed the last 10 minutes but were unable to convert.

Arturo Oberto had five saves for Edmonds and recorded the shut out with Barrera posting nine saves.

The Tritons play just once this coming week, a 2:45 pm league game versus Shoreline (2-5-1, 1-3-1) at Twin Ponds Park in Shoreline.
